Unquestionably, the universally acclaimed, all-time favorite girl group — The Supremes are a cultural icon for glamour, poise, style, charm and elegance.
The Supremes Legacy
The Supremes set a new standard for soulful sophistication by crossing over from R&B to Pop. While topping the charts with 12 #1 smash singles, they sustained the legacy with a total of 33 Top-40 hits, sales of 20 million singles, and an induction into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
Lynda Laurence
Lynda Laurence shined on both lead and backing vocals from 1971 to 1973. The daughter of gospel legend Ira Tucker of the Dixie Hummingbirds, Lynda is a featured background vocalist on Stevie Wonder’s hit “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours” and appeared on his Grammy Award winning LP Songs in the Key of Life. She also has impressive credits with Joe Cocker, Ringo Starr, Harry Nilsson and Aretha Franklin.
Scherrie Payne
Lead vocal sparks flew from Scherrie Payne during 1973 to 1977. Officially recognized as the act’s final lead vocalist, Scherrie was originally discovered by legendary Motown producer Eddie Holland through her sister Freda Payne. Her stellar career includes working with Smokey Robinson, José Feliciano, Gloria Gaynor, Thelma Houston and George Benson, among many others.
The FLOS — Formerly Ladies of The Supremes
In 1986, Scherrie Payne, Lynda Laurence and Jean Terrell joined together to rekindle the glamour, style and music of The Supremes. The trio has performed live in concert throughout Europe, the Middle East and the Orient alongside Tom Jones, James Brown, The Temptations, The Four Tops and many more.
Highlights include a performance at the Royal Albert Hall for the late Princess Diana, the “Return to Love” tour with Diana Ross in 2000, and a landmark 20th Anniversary concert at the historic Fonda Theatre in Hollywood in 2006.
